A good example of a hand ball that was not penalized correctly because it hit the body of the defender first

No Offside Example
Переглядів 3,4 тис.5 років тому
Excellent example of a player in offside position that received the ball from a defender. This play is no-offside and the goal should count. The AR cannot see clearly who passed the ball, but the CR should correct her mistake.

    I don't agree with play 1. A player is entitled to put his leg in a position to protect the ball from the defender. In real time play it looks like a clear foul.

    So many fouls here could be prevented. But some team are alouding their players to do whatever it takes to win the game and this is putting the players in danger. That fouls by the goalkeeper hitting the players head should be considered a crime in soccer once he could kill that players. Why so many players act stupid like that ? Why not play safety so kids see that and want to play soccer. Some of this fouls will scare kids and parents from soccer. Just remember that fouls can be prevented. Play safety y'all please?

    My question is When a player is in an offside when his team's passed the ball and he didn't run. He waited for opponents to make him onside after the ball was passed. Can you pause your run on an offside to make it onside. How does it really work. Suarez once did it, the commentators said Suarez knew he was offside so he paused his run. I don't know which game it it though.

    • @ChubyDon
      @ChubyDon 3 роки тому

      The idea of the offside rule is that the player doesn't gain an unfair advantage. Once the ball is touched by another player the offside situation is re-evaluated. Suarez and other experienced players recognize they are in offside, so they juts wait until the next time the ball is played. Unintentional deflections are not enough, the ball needs to be played intentionally.

  • @sahilbakshi3108
    @sahilbakshi3108 4 роки тому

    The CR's decision is correct in this case, as the defender deliberately stops the ball and the attacker who is already in the offside gained the advantage of being in that position. Deliberate attempt to stop the ball and Deliberate attempt to play the ball are defined separately by IFAB. For more explanation on this, please refer to "Laws of the Game" Law-11, section 2, 2nd paragraph.

    • @ambrascetnarwhal2695
      @ambrascetnarwhal2695 3 роки тому

      I guess you mean the deliberate save, which is the only expression apart from deliberate play when talking about offside. The defender was not protecting his goal, as the ball was not on target. The defender played the ball in this case, which negates the offside offense. The goal should stand.

    I hope you are just being sarcastic in this video. Otherwise, it is really harmful video. If you are a referee please do not try to educate anyone lol. In the first incident, obviously the player tries to award a penalty by shielding the ball and then he celebrates, because why wouldn't he? How can you be a referee if you are not empathize with a player? Naturally he celebrates it, not because of fooling the ref. Also if you still think that he celebrates it because of awarding a penalty, why would he demonstrate the joy of this if he really trying to fool you. Just think a little. Third position is also definitely a penalty, the player in yellow shirt step on the black shirted player's ankle for god's sake, how can you call this a ''dive''?

      Thanks for your comment. The referee didn't see it either. At 5:05 you will see the contact. What is important here is that the referee is too far from the play. He should be near the penalty arc.

      @@ChubyDon Looking at it again, I guess I see a contact halfway up the shin. But from there the player with the ball basically begins to act like he just got his legs swept out from underneath him. Hence my thought on embellishment. My question I suppose is that had he not sold it like an academy award, would a could had been called for the shin kick? Or would we call that trifling, as I really don't think it would have interfered with his play of the ball?

      I agree with you. I see it more as a dive rather than a foul. There was contact by the shin agreed, but the contact was neither strong enough to be a straight hit, nor was what stopped Marcelo to continue his movement. Marcelo tried to sell it but I don't think that was a foul. Specially that game that looked like the referee was letting them play more physical.

  • @jayeffsixteen
    @jayeffsixteen 5 років тому

    for everyone confused about the first example: red initiates the contact. white is going for the ball. red hits players leg by moving his leg towards the white players leg. if his leg was already in that position shielding you're correct its a penalty. but it wasn't he was moving it there and therefore red initiates the contact by virtue of moving to where he wants to shield. theres a good video from some California ref instructor that breaks down similar situations. this is what Fifa wants.

    To everyone saying that the ChubyDon shouldn't be 'correcting' the referee here This video hasn't been made to have a 'dig' at the referee.... The title is very clear, Referee Training It's been made as a resource for referees to use and study. As a referee myself this video makes several very valid points that can be used. Referee's at the top level are more critical of themselves than any assessor, fan or competitor. He will have watched these key incidents and picked out sections where he could have intervened to keep the match under control more than we have. Referee's are human and all up the referee did what he could and reacted reasonably appropriately to the scenario in front of him. These players very clearly did not want to be controlled and ultimately if a player doesn't want to be managed and wants to misbehave there is nothing we as referees can do to stop them, management techniques can be used to coerce some players into working with you but those management techniques don't always work and on players like these I doubt they would have done much at all.... The player's have more to do with the mass confrontation and other incidents than the referee does.

  • @droop224
    @droop224 6 років тому

    @2:41 is a good example of why the offside call is hard. Interfering does not just mean touching the ball. If your movement causes a defender to react in a way that they may have not of and you are in the offside position, that CAN be called an offside offence. Different referees have different views on this. Typically referees who play soccer are more lenient. As far as I'm concerned, if you are in an offside position when that ball is kicked don't run, definitely don't sprint, toward the ball. You are gambling with the call.

  • @CookyMellow

    Ok look buddy. First one, referee is meant to be that far away because the AR's are on that side of the pitch. Second video yellow card for fine, first offence and wasnt even that bad. Third video, yellow players didnt influence the referee cause it was a clear yellow and no influence is needed. Im not even going to bother with the rest. So look unless you ref yourself dont try correcting others work when u couldn't do any better.

    • @fglend73

      Your assessment is incorrect. That first incident occurred right in front of the technical area. This is the hottest spot on the field. Considering the temperature of the game, and the reckless nature of the foul, he should’ve have made his way over to that spot. That is player management 101. To say he should’ve been that far away bc his AR is there is completely ignorant.

  • @andreashasle9756

    Are you a referee? I would like to see you handle a game like this! Yes, he made mistakes, but to claim that none of this would have happened if he had handed out an early yellow is very naive!! Also, listen to pro refs, they will say to try not to give yellow cards too early in the game, as you then may have to hand out several reds later... Responsibility also lies with the players to control themselves and their teammates.

    The last one should be "Play On" (Advantage) because both the yellow and red player have equal opportunity to take possession of the ball. The hold was not mere enough to call for a DK (Direct Kick). I would play on unless one of the players was on top of the other player trying to receive the ball. Then we have a push penalty with IDK.

    This is the problem with soccer, they've made the rules to complex. If you are offside when you receive the ball, you should be offside, like in the old days. What the hell does "interfering with the play" mean? Why does offside not apply on a throw in but it does on a free kick? Why is charging allowed from the sides but not the front or back? Why is it illegal to strip the goalie of the ball if he has 2 hands touching, but not if the ball is on the ground or in the event where he is about to release it for a kick? Why can't a player pass the ball back to his own goalie's hands? (Stupidest rule of them all, goalies are allowed to use their hands but not if they get a back pass. It's just stupid. You are either allowed to use your hands or your not. Of course to make this rule even stupider if you head the ball back to the goalie or it deflects, well then hands are allowed, but no passes. Stupid.) Is a hand ball intentional or not? How the heck can you tell? They already had all the proper rules of soccer figured out 75 years ago, and all the changes have just been twits who think they are smarter than the people who invented the game.

  • @juancho661

    Isn't 10:11 a foul against Tevez? Because the goalie had the ball in his two hands and Tevez scrapped the ball off.

    • @ChubyDon
      @ChubyDon 6 років тому

      I think you mean 11:10. I don't think it is a foul, the goal keeper had no control of the ball and Tevez fairly gain possesion of the ball. The issue here is that after that he is in offside position when Messi passes the ball to him.

  • @juancho661
    @juancho661 6 років тому

    At 3:00 does that apply to both hands or just one hand?

    • @mrramosmath
      @mrramosmath 6 років тому

      Thanks for your question. What is important is if the goal keeper has control of the ball, it could be one or two hands, one hand and any surface (goal post, the ground, his/her body), even holding the ball in the open palm. The goal keeper cannot be challenged when he is in possession of the ball. However, a ball which is only being controlled by the goalkeeper using means other than the hands is open to otherwise legal challenges by an opponent.

    • @juancho661
      @juancho661 6 років тому

      Thanks. Next time I wont award that goal. I gave a u8 game a goal with one hand against surface and my excuse was the kicker was already on his shooting leg before the goalie put two fingers on the ball.
